EzyBiz LEX vs AiDial

AiDial is an Australian AI call answering provider from the Sunshine Coast, with a legal answering service configured for each firm and plans priced by the call. EzyBiz LEX is a business phone with an automated answering service built in, made for Australian law firms. This page compares the two for a law firm, from AiDial's own website and pricing as at 30 September 2026.

The one difference that drives the rest

AiDial configures an AI agent for your firm and puts it behind your existing number or on a dedicated one. It collects approved intake details, identifies the matter type, arranges a call back or a consultation request, and can warm transfer a caller with a briefing, following routing built around business hours and approved destinations. Transcripts arrive by email and summaries by SMS.

EzyBiz LEX is the lawyer's phone as well as the agent. The business number is in the app, so each lawyer decides with one tap whether calls ring them directly, are greeted first or are taken entirely by the service, and the record of every call is filed to the matter in Smokeball or to SharePoint without an integration project.

What it isAn AI voice agent configured for the firm under a scope of work.A business phone for each lawyer, with an automated answering service and matter filing built in.
Who answersAn AI agent, 24 hours a day. Its pricing FAQ says the customer is responsible for telling callers they are speaking to an AI agent where the law requires it.An automated answering service in the firm's name, which says it is automated, in one of three modes each lawyer sets: Available, Screen or Unavailable.
A phone for the lawyerNone listed. The agent uses a new dedicated number, and you forward your main business number to it or port it.Yes. Each lawyer has an Australian business number in the EzyBiz LEX app on the phone they already carry. Calls come in on it, calls out show the business number, and SMS is sent and received on it.
When you are freeThe agent answers the calls routed to it and can warm transfer with a briefing, by the caller's need, business hours and approved destinations. If nobody is available it follows the agreed message, call back or escalation path.In Available mode the call rings straight to the lawyer, with the caller's name, their matter and the last note on screen before they answer. Nobody answers first and nothing is transferred.
Changing availabilityRouting follows the configured business hours and destinations. A switch for each lawyer is not described on its website. One tap on the Home tab of the app, per lawyer, taking effect on the next call. Available, Screen or Unavailable, changed between a hearing and a meeting.
After the callFull transcripts by email and summaries by SMS.A push notification, then a written summary, the transcript and a finished file note, in the app and on the matter.
Filing to the matterNo legal practice management system is named on its integrations page. Its legal page says supported calendars, CRM tools and business systems can be assessed through their APIs.Automatic. In Smokeball each call becomes a completed task on the matter with the file note, plus a memo or a document. SharePoint gets a document per call under the contact. Clio filing is in development.
New enquiriesCollects approved intake details, identifies the matter type and arranges a call back or consultation request. It does not give legal advice or make conflict, urgency or representation decisions.A new caller becomes a contact and a lead matter in Smokeball with the call on it, a call back becomes an open task that syncs both ways, and a booked consult lands in the Smokeball calendar.
Calling and texting backFrom your own phone or phone system. AiDial sells separate outbound plans for follow-ups and call backs made by the AI agent.Call and text back from the app on the business number. The return call and the texts sit on the same contact timeline and are filed to the same matter.
Price$149 a month for 60 calls, $249 for 150 and $449 for 400, with extra calls at $2.49, $1.99 and $1.49. A call longer than ten minutes counts as more than one. No per-call, per-minute, transfer or setup fee.
scheduleThe working day

Six moments in a lawyer's day, handled two ways

The table says what each product has. These are the moments where a lawyer feels the difference.

You are at your desk and a client rings

With AiDial. Calls routed to AiDial are answered by the agent, which can warm transfer to you with a briefing when the routing allows it at that hour. For your own phone to ring first, the firm sends only overflow calls to the agent from its existing phone system.

With EzyBiz LEX. Leave the line in Available and the call rings your phone directly, with the client's name, the matter and your last note on screen from the first ring. You answer as yourself, and when you hang up the summary, the transcript and the file note are written and filed without anyone typing them. If you miss the call, the answering service picks it up in the firm's name.

You walk into court at ten to ten

With AiDial. Routing is built around business hours and approved destinations. AiDial's website does not describe a switch a lawyer can change from a phone between a hearing and a meeting.

With EzyBiz LEX. Tap Unavailable on the Home tab as you walk in and the service takes every call from the next ring. Tap Screen on the way out and genuine callers are put through to you with a one-line summary, while cold callers stop at the front desk. There is no schedule to edit, no code to dial and nobody to notify.

A new enquiry rings at seven in the evening

With AiDial. The agent collects the approved intake details, identifies the matter type and arranges a call back or a consultation request, then sends the transcript by email and a summary by SMS.

With EzyBiz LEX. The service answers in the firm's name at any hour, asks what the matter is about, the other party's name, any date that is close and how the caller found the firm, then books a consult or a call back time. The enquiry opens as a lead in Smokeball with the file note attached, and the booking is in the calendar.

You ring the client back

With AiDial. You ring back from your own phone. AiDial lists no line or app for the lawyer, so the return call is outside the service.

With EzyBiz LEX. Tap the contact in the app and the call goes out on the business number, so the client sees the firm's number and your personal mobile stays private. The return call is transcribed, summarised and filed to the same matter as the message that prompted it, and a text reply is drafted for you to read and send.

The note for the file

With AiDial. The transcript is in your email. With no legal practice management system on its integrations page, the note reaches the matter by hand or through an integration assessed and quoted for the firm.

With EzyBiz LEX. The file note is written when the caller hangs up, with the summary, the outcome, any booking and the follow-ups, and the transcript beneath it. It is filed to the matter in Smokeball or to your SharePoint library, and when the service cannot tell which matter a call belongs to it asks you in the app.

A busy month

With AiDial. Calls beyond the plan are $1.49 to $2.49 each, and a call longer than ten minutes uses a second call unit.

With EzyBiz LEX. The subscription is the only figure. Thirty calls or three hundred, long intake calls or short ones, the month costs A$79.99 per lawyer.

Where AiDial is the better fit

A firm that already has a phone system it is happy with and wants an Australian company to configure an AI agent to its own call paths, with warm transfers, transcript redaction, Australian hosting on every plan and a Compliance Pack that adds 100% Australian data residency.

Where EzyBiz LEX is the better fit

A firm that wants the phone, the answering and the filing in one subscription, with each lawyer switching modes from their own phone and each call landing on the Smokeball matter or in SharePoint as a finished file note, at a price that does not change with the number or length of calls.

Questions about EzyBiz LEX and AiDial

AiDial's integrations page does not name Smokeball, LEAP, Clio or Actionstep as at 30 September 2026. Its legal page says supported calendars, CRM tools and business systems can be assessed through their APIs. EzyBiz LEX's Smokeball integration is live and included in the subscription.

EzyBiz LEX introduces itself as the firm's customer service system, tells the caller the call is transcribed and says it is automated if asked, on every call. AiDial's pricing FAQ makes the customer responsible for informing callers that they are interacting with an AI agent where the law requires it.

There is little reason to, because both answer the calls you cannot take. EzyBiz LEX also gives each lawyer the business line itself, with calls out, SMS and filing to the matter.

No. The answering service is automated and says so. In Screen mode it puts genuine callers through to the lawyer, and a caller who asks for a person is offered to be put through or to leave a message for the lawyer.

It was compiled from AiDial's public website on 30 September 2026. If something on the AiDial side has changed, tell us and we will correct it.
