Your number, or a new one
A dedicated Australian business number for you or for the whole firm, ready in minutes, or port the number you already have. If you would rather change nothing on day one, forward your existing number on no answer and EzyBiz Lex only ever sees the calls you did not take.
Forward on no answer
The lowest-risk start. Your number, your reception and your daytime routine stay exactly as they are. Calls that ring out are answered by EzyBiz Lex in your firm's name and filed to the matter. Set up in your carrier's app in a couple of minutes.
A new Australian number
Choose a mobile or a landline number in the app. It is live within minutes, it shows your firm on caller ID when you call out, and it is yours: it can be ported away if you ever leave.
Port the number you have
Bring your existing number across so callers never learn a new one. Your current service keeps working until the day the port completes, and nothing is missed in between.
Calling out and texting from the firm's number
Calls and text messages sent from the app come from the business number, so your personal mobile stays private and everything sits on the caller's timeline next to their calls.
Outbound calls are made from the app and show the business number to the person you are calling. Text messages from the number appear on the contact's timeline in the app and, once the firm is connected, are logged against the matter. For replies, EzyBiz Lex drafts a message from the conversation so far and you read it, change what you want and send it, so nothing reaches a client without you.
Your team can share the same line and the same contacts, and each lawyer can also have a direct number. The mode for the line, Available, Screen or Unavailable, can be changed in the app between a hearing and a meeting.
Porting, step by step
- Book a setup call or start in the app. You will need the account name and number as they appear on your current carrier's bill.
- We lodge the port request. Your existing number keeps working with your current provider while it is processed.
- Mobile ports in Australia usually complete within a few business days; landline ports take longer and depend on the losing carrier. We tell you the day before it switches.
- On port day the number moves to EzyBiz Lex. The answering service is already configured, so the first call after the switch is answered in your firm's name.
Australian numbers, Australian data
EzyBiz Lex numbers are Australian numbers. Calls, transcripts and messages are stored in Australian data centres and handled under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. See data residency for the detail.
Numbers and porting questions
Can I keep my existing number?
Yes. Port it to EzyBiz Lex, or keep it where it is and forward it on no answer so the answering service only handles the calls you did not take.
What kind of numbers are available?
Australian mobile numbers, and landline numbers for the capital cities and regions. Mobile numbers can send and receive SMS from the app; landline numbers use a shared SMS sender.
How long does porting take?
Mobile number ports in Australia usually complete within a few business days once the losing carrier has validated the request. Landline ports take longer and depend on the losing carrier. Your number keeps working with your current provider until the port completes.
Can the whole firm share one number?
Yes. A firm can share the same line and the same contacts, and each lawyer can also have a direct number.
Do I need a second phone?
No. Calls come to the EzyBiz Lex app on the phone you already carry, with the business number shown to the caller when you call out.
Start with forwarding, or start with a new number
Book a setup call and we will pick the right starting point for your firm. Most pilot firms begin with forwarding on no answer and move to a dedicated number later.
