EzyBiz LEX vs Valory AI

Valory AI is a managed AI receptionist service for Australian businesses, which designs, launches and tunes a phone agent for you. EzyBiz LEX is a business phone with an automated answering service built in, made for Australian law firms. This page compares the two for a law firm, from Valory's own website, pricing and law firm guide as at 30 September 2026.

The one difference that drives the rest

Valory builds and runs an AI phone agent on your behalf. Calls are forwarded to it after hours or when your lines go unanswered, it captures the enquiry, and the message reaches the lawyer by SMS or email, with a live transfer attempted for urgent calls in business hours. Scripts and routing rules are changed by your Valory success lead, and its FAQ says most updates are implemented within one business day.

EzyBiz LEX puts that control in the lawyer's hand. The business number is in the app, so Available rings you directly with the matter on screen, Screen has the service greet callers first, and Unavailable hands it every call, and the change is one tap that applies from the next ring. Every call, including the ones you take yourself, is written up and filed to the matter.

What it isA managed AI receptionist service. Valory designs, launches, monitors and tunes the phone workflow.A business phone for each lawyer, with an automated answering service and matter filing built in.
Who answersAn AI agent, 24 hours a day. The sample greeting in its law firm guide says it is an AI assistant and cannot give legal advice. An automated answering service in the firm's name, which says it is automated, in one of three modes each lawyer sets: Available, Screen or Unavailable.
A phone for the lawyerNone listed. Plans include one or two Australian local numbers for the agent, and calls are forwarded to it.Yes. Each lawyer has an Australian business number in the EzyBiz LEX app on the phone they already carry. Calls come in on it, calls out show the business number, and SMS is sent and received on it.
When you are freeStaff answer as usual on their own phones. In its law firm guide's example, calls go to the AI after hours, or when all lines are busy or unanswered after four rings. In Available mode the call rings straight to the lawyer, with the caller's name, their matter and the last note on screen before they answer. Nobody answers first and nothing is transferred.
Changing availabilityThrough Valory. Its FAQ says changes are managed for you and most updates are implemented within one business day.One tap on the Home tab of the app, per lawyer, taking effect on the next call. Available, Screen or Unavailable, changed between a hearing and a meeting.
After the callThe message goes to the assigned lawyer by SMS or email, with a structured summary.A push notification, then a written summary, the transcript and a finished file note, in the app and on the matter.
Filing to the matterIt supports Google and Outlook calendars, booking tools, CRMs and webhooks. Its law firm guide says that where direct practice management integration is not available, the intake data is sent to the lawyer for manual entry.Automatic. In Smokeball each call becomes a completed task on the matter with the file note, plus a memo or a document. SharePoint gets a document per call under the contact. Clio filing is in development.
New enquiriesCaptures the enquiry and books a consultation from the lawyer's calendar. Its guide says the AI does not perform conflict checks, which the lawyer does after intake.A new caller becomes a contact and a lead matter in Smokeball with the call on it, a call back becomes an open task that syncs both ways, and a booked consult lands in the Smokeball calendar.
Calling and texting backFrom your own phone or phone system. Outbound calling by the agent is an add-on on the smaller plans.Call and text back from the app on the business number. The return call and the texts sit on the same contact timeline and are filed to the same matter.

scheduleThe working day

Six moments in a lawyer's day, handled two ways

The table says what each product has. These are the moments where a lawyer feels the difference.

You are at your desk and a client rings

With Valory AI. You answer your own phone on whatever system you have, and Valory takes what rings out. Valory is not the phone you answer on, so the matter is not on screen and the calls you take yourself are not written up.

With EzyBiz LEX. Leave the line in Available and the call rings your phone directly, with the client's name, the matter and your last note on screen from the first ring. You answer as yourself, and when you hang up the summary, the transcript and the file note are written and filed without anyone typing them. If you miss the call, the answering service picks it up in the firm's name.

You walk into court at ten to ten

With Valory AI. The routing is a set of rules Valory maintains. Changing when calls go to the agent is a request to your success lead, with most updates made within a business day, or a forwarding change with your carrier.

With EzyBiz LEX. Tap Unavailable on the Home tab as you walk in and the service takes every call from the next ring. Tap Screen on the way out and genuine callers are put through to you with a one-line summary, while cold callers stop at the front desk. There is no schedule to edit, no code to dial and nobody to notify.

A new enquiry rings at seven in the evening

With Valory AI. The agent answers, says it is an AI assistant, captures the enquiry and books a consultation from your calendar. The message reaches you by SMS or email.

With EzyBiz LEX. The service answers in the firm's name at any hour, asks what the matter is about, the other party's name, any date that is close and how the caller found the firm, then books a consult or a call back time. The enquiry opens as a lead in Smokeball with the file note attached, and the booking is in the calendar.

You ring the client back

With Valory AI. You ring back from your own phone. Valory lists no line or app for the lawyer, so the return call is outside the service.

With EzyBiz LEX. Tap the contact in the app and the call goes out on the business number, so the client sees the firm's number and your personal mobile stays private. The return call is transcribed, summarised and filed to the same matter as the message that prompted it, and a text reply is drafted for you to read and send.

The note for the file

With Valory AI. The summary arrives by SMS or email. Where there is no direct practice management integration, its guide says the intake data is sent to the lawyer for manual entry.

With EzyBiz LEX. The file note is written when the caller hangs up, with the summary, the outcome, any booking and the follow-ups, and the transcript beneath it. It is filed to the matter in Smokeball or to your SharePoint library, and when the service cannot tell which matter a call belongs to it asks you in the app.

A busy month

With Valory AI. Minutes beyond the plan are $0.50 to $0.90 each, so a month of long intake calls costs more than a quiet one.

With EzyBiz LEX. The subscription is the only figure. Thirty calls or three hundred, long intake calls or short ones, the month costs A$79.99 per lawyer.

Where Valory AI is the better fit

A firm that wants an AI agent designed, tested and tuned for it by someone else, and mainly wants after hours and overflow calls captured, gets a done-for-you service from an Australian company on month to month terms, live within a few business days.

Where EzyBiz LEX is the better fit

A firm whose lawyers move between desk, court and meetings and want to decide, call by call, whether the phone rings them or the service answers, and who want every call on the Smokeball matter or in SharePoint without entering it by hand.

Questions about EzyBiz LEX and Valory AI

Valory's law firm guide names LEAP, Actionstep, FilePro, Smokeball and Clio as common systems and says integration depends on the provider, with intake data sent to the lawyer for manual entry where direct integration is not available, as at 30 September 2026. Ask Valory which integrations are live for your system.

In EzyBiz LEX the mode is one tap in the app and applies from the next call. Valory's FAQ says changes to scripts, routing rules and escalation logic are managed by your success lead, with most updates implemented within one business day.

There is little reason to, because both answer the calls you cannot take. EzyBiz LEX also gives each lawyer the business line itself, with calls out, SMS and filing to the matter.

No. The answering service is automated and says so. In Screen mode it puts genuine callers through to the lawyer, and a caller who asks for a person is offered to be put through or to leave a message for the lawyer.

It was compiled from Valory's public website on 30 September 2026. If something on the Valory side has changed, tell us and we will correct it.
