Acceptable use

What you may and may not do with an EzyBiz Lex number, the answering service and SMS, including spam, impersonation, recording consent and abuse of integrations.

This policy sets out how the Service may be used. It forms part of the terms of service. If in doubt, ask us first.

You may

  • Use your number and the answering service for the lawful business of your firm.
  • Configure the answering service with your own practice areas, hours, locations and rules.
  • Send SMS to people who have given you their number for that purpose, with a way to opt out.
  • Connect your own practice management system or Microsoft 365 tenant and file records to it.

You may not

  • Send spam. No unsolicited marketing SMS, no bulk messaging, no messages that breach the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) or the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth).
  • Impersonate. The answering service must answer in the name of your own firm. Do not configure it to present as another firm, a court, a government agency, or a person it is not.
  • Configure it to advise. Do not instruct the answering service to give legal advice, quote outcomes, or discuss the contents of a matter with a caller whose identity has not been verified through the Service.
  • Record without consent where consent is required. The Service tells every caller that the call is transcribed. Do not disable or work around that disclosure, and do not use the Service where local law requires a consent you do not hold.
  • Harass or threaten. No calls or messages that are abusive, threatening, discriminatory or intended to intimidate.
  • Misuse numbers. No number spoofing, no use of the Service to make automated or robocalls, no use for emergency services calls, and no resale of numbers or the Service without our written agreement.
  • Misuse integrations. Do not connect a practice management system or tenant you are not authorised to connect, and do not use the Service to extract data from another firm's systems.
  • Attack the Service. No probing, scanning, reverse engineering, scraping, or attempts to access other subscribers' data.
  • Use it for unlawful purposes. Including fraud, scams, or any activity that would breach Australian law or a carrier's rules.

Enforcement

We may suspend a number or an account where we reasonably believe this policy has been breached, and will tell you why unless the law prevents it. Carriers may also suspend numbers used for spam or scams, and we must comply. Serious or repeated breaches end the agreement.
